MARINATED HONEY GARLIC TOFU

Tofu is a delicious meat substitute that many vegetarians add to their meal. It may seem like a tasteless choice, but nothing could be further from the truth. Precisely because tofu has little flavour, it is ideal for marinating. Read our recipe and discover how to make the tastiest tofu marinade!

MARINATED HONEY GARLIC TOFU

RECIPE FOR AN ORIENTAL TOFU MARINADE  

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 large pack of solid tofu
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey 
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil

    FOR THE TOPPING: 

    • 1 spring onion
    • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Remove the tofu from its packaging and allow it to drain well. If necessary, place it on a tea towel so that the moisture is absorbed well.
    2. While the tofu is leaking, clean the jar and perforate a hole in the lid. Then cut the tofu into cubes and put them in the jar.
    3. Finely chop the spring onion, red onion and garlic, then set aside the spring onion and red onion. Add the soy sauce, soy sauce, honey and garlic to the tofu. Vacuum the jar and twist or shake it so that the marinade spreads well. 
    4. Wait 15 minutes and repeat the twisting/shaking again after 5 minutes so that it spreads well again.
    5. Heat the pan with sunflower oil and add the onion to the pan. Then add the tofu and marinade in the pan and add a dash of sesame oil.
    6. Pan-fry the tofu to your liking. Serve the tofu with rice or noodles of your choice and use the spring onion and sesame as topping. ENJOY!

    EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT FLAVOURS

    Is the taste not completely to your liking or do you want to experiment with different tastes? Then give your dish an extra kick and add sambal or pepper. Another option is to replace the tofu for tempeh, seitan or jackfruit, for example. These can also be marinated as an extra flavouring!
