Marinades are an excellent way adding flavour to all kinds of food. As a bonus, meat, fish and poultry also get tenderized in the process. Unfortunately, marinating takes time and patience. Unless you use vacuum to speed up the process and get perfect results in no time.
Vacuum temporarily expands the fibres of the food. This creates room for marinades to be quickly absorbed.
Because marinade penetrates deeper into the food, more flavour is transferred and more of the tough proteines are broken down in meats.
Airtender Experience more flavour and tenderness in less time, with Airtender.

Yes, basically any airtight glass twist top jar can be used to marinate with vacuum. Make sure to use jars with metal lids, because these seal well and are sustainable.
Plastic jars or jars with plastic lids aren’t suitable for vacuum. They simply aren’t strong enough to resist the deep vacuum that Airtender creates and will collapse or even implode.
Most importantly, we don’t recommend plastic jars because they aren’t sustainable and can be a health risk because they can cause potential chemicals and microplastics to get into your food.
When you save or prepare food in plastic containers and bags, there is always a risk of chemicals slowly leaching into your food. Especially when those containers are routinely washed in the dishwasher or microwave. Yes, the materials may have been labelled as ‘food approved’, but the effects over time when directly in contact with food are still uncertain.
Apart from the chemical problem, there is evidence that tiny pieces of plastic called “microplastics” and “nanoplastics” separate from containers and lids into your food. These plastic particles end up in the body, which poses severe health risks.
Glass, however, does not leach chemicals and does not disintegrate into your food. It has been a safe and trusted way of storing and preparing foods for centuries. And of course: 100% recyclable and sustainable!
The Airtender vacuum lids fit the most commonly available size of clip top jars, often referred to as 85 or 90. This means that they are compatible with multiple designs and brands, such as Bormioli Fido, Kilner, IKEA as well as many private label brands.
Because of the large number of brands and jar designs, as well as the nature of glass production, it’s always possible that lids do not fit certain jars. If you are uncertain about the compatibility with your jars, please do a check as described in this guide.
Alternatively, you can select any of the complete sets of jars with lids and Airtender vacuum pump.
Airtender uses two vacuum indicators. One in the vacuum pump and one in the Nanostopper itself. When you pump, you will hear a clicking sound that indicates that the jar is completely vacuum sealed.
As an additional indicator, there is the Nanostopper itself that lies completely flat on surface of the lid when under vacuum. If the upper part of the stopper is raised above the lid, it means that the vacuum has been released. In contrast to other solutions, you can see it from a distance with Airtender. How convenient is that?
