Labels deviate from jars and bottles
The reuse of jars and bottles is a sustainable and also fun solution for storing food, drinks or stuff. Unfortunately, removing the labels, tags or stickers is often a difficult job. Due to the adhesive adhesive there are always pieces of label left behind on the glass. That's why we have two handy techniques that will help you remove the labels from your jars and bottles in no time at all!
Method 1: Label removal with detergent and boiling water
Step 1: Fill a large pan with hot water and make sure that the jars or bottles are completely submerged. Let the glass fill up so that they come to a standstill. Extra tip: Never put the glass directly into boiling water! Make sure that it is already in there when the water is warming up, so that it does not break.
Step 2: Add a few drops of dishwashing detergent and make some soapy water. Don't you have any detergent? Then use hand soap.
Step 3: Bring the water to a boil, because the hotter the water, the easier the label will come off.
Step 4: After 5-10 minutes, while the water starts boiling, check whether the label has come off. Attention! Don't just take the jar out of the hot water. Use pliers or wait until the water has cooled down. Extra tip: After soaking, use a sponge to remove the little leftovers, put this in the soapy water you still have for the best result.
Don't you want to work with boiling water? Then it is also possible with hot water, the process will only take a little longer. Or try method 2!
Method 2: Label removal with vinegar and hot water
Step 1: Fill the sink with hot water and immerse the jars or bottles completely in water.
Step 2: Add a few cups of vinegar. Vinegar makes the glue dissolve faster. Add a few more drops of washing-up liquid and make some soapy water. Don't have any detergent? Then use hand soap.
Step 3: Leave the jars to stand for 10-30 minutes (depending on how quickly the label comes off). The longer you leave it, the better the vinegar does its job.
Tip: After soaking, use a sponge to remove the little leftovers, put this in the soapy water you still have for the best result.
